Start with the problem you want to solve

Tell us what you are building, who will use it and where the work currently stands. We would rather read the problem than a specification.

What to write

Four things worth saying first

None of this has to be written up. A few sentences on each is enough for us to tell you whether we are the right people for it.

  • Describe the product or workflow The job it has to do, and what happens today when somebody has to do it.
  • Explain who needs to use it The people in front of the screen, and where they are when they use it.
  • Share the stage the work is at An idea, a drawing, or something already running that needs work.
  • Add links or files where they help Anything that shows the problem faster than a paragraph can describe it.

What happens then

We tell you what we see

We read it, and we say what we think the real problem is. Sometimes that matches what was asked for and sometimes it does not, and it is more useful to hear the second one early.

If it is not work for us, we say so. We would rather turn something down than take it on and do it badly.
